Food and Drink

Cambridgeshire is home to an exceptional range of places to eat and drink, whether you’re seeking a romantic dinner in an intimate brasserie, Michelin-starred dining or an atmospheric village pub. There are also a number of family-friendly eateries where the little ones won’t cause a disturbance, plus several charming tea rooms and quaint coffee shops.

The Plough

This family friendly pub and restaurant is set on the edge of the River Cam in the picturesque village of Fen Ditton. It has plenty of character and history, having once been a former paper mill, and is a great place for lunch or dinner with some lovely riverside views. An extensive menu of freshly prepared food is available with a good selection of ales and wines. On warm days you can dine in the beautiful garden and on cooler evenings sit around the fire pit under the stars. (Distance from park: 10 miles)

The Old Fire Engine House Restaurant

A restaurant and art gallery all in one, The Old Fire Engine House is located in an 18th-century building and oozes character and charm. Run by a husband and wife team, there’s a nice relaxed family feel about the place. Delicious, classic home-made dishes are on offer including traditional steak and kidney pie and roasts. This is the place for you if you love good traditional home cooking in a cosy, characterful setting. (Distance from the park: 5.5 miles)

The Lazy Otter

Just minutes away from Lazy Otter Meadows park, this casual pub is situated right next to the River Ouse, providing guests with a fabulous view of the boats and barges meandering down the river. There is a lovely garden for warmer days or in the winter months you can snuggle up near the roaring fire in the cosy bar sipping Mulled Wine or Winter Pimms. A large enclosed play area will keep the kids entertained, too. (Distance from park: 0.5 miles)

Alimentum

If you’re a lover of innovative gourmet dining, you’re in for a treat at Alimentum. One of Cambridgeshire’s premier restaurants, and owner of a coveted Michelin star, it has a funky, informal ambience that makes a refreshing change from so many other fine dining experiences. But more than anything, it is the brilliantly inventive food served up by Chef Patron Mark Poynton that attracts visitors here from far and wide. (Distance from park: 11.7 miles)

The Clarendon Arms

A traditional real ale pub serving delicious home-made food using locally sourced ingredients, the Clarendon Arms ticks all the boxes for anyone seeking a homely place to relax with good food and drink and plenty of local charm. (Distance from park: 10.9 miles)
