Devon offers and abundance of perfect sandy beaches and miles of un-spoilt coastline. Whether you’re looking for activities from surfing, kite surfing or wind surfing or you just want to spend time with your favorite pooch on a long walk, then Devon beaches are perfect.
Choose from sandy to shingle or even beaches with big sand dunes. Devon’s beaches have it all. The wide sandy and dune filled beaches at Woolacombe provide private enclaves away from the open breeze for sun seekers. Or if you want to learn to paddle board or surf then there are many options to hire boards from the local vendors. Take a long walk from Woolacombe to Putsborough beach and grab a spot of breakfast or lunch at the cafe.
Santon Sands is another fantastic beach to learn to surf with lifeguards on hand. You can also learn many watersports and enjoy a fantastic lunch at the Beachside Grill which offers fantastic locally sourced fish dishes. Even of you fancy a game of golf Saunton Sands golf course is literally built amongst the sand dunes.
Another beach on the north coast of devon is Croyde Bay. It sits just a few minutes from the town and has plenty of shops to browse, and cafes and pubs to grab a bite to eat or a quick refreshment break. Again, you can hire a range of equipment to enjoy the beach and the waves.
